A Horrible Sight is the fourth episode of the third season of Hoarding: Buried Alive. The show follows individuals suffering from hoarding disorder and the professional organizers and therapists who attempt to help them overcome it.

In this episode, we meet Sandra, a woman in her fifties who has been hoarding for over two decades. Her home is filled with clutter, garbage bags, and pet feces. The stench is so strong that her neighbors have complained to the city, and the fire department has deemed her home a safety hazard.

Sandra has two adult sons who have attempted to help her in the past, but their efforts have been unsuccessful. She insists that she can clean up on her own, but it's clear that she is overwhelmed and doesn't know where to start.

The episode begins with Sandra meeting with a team of professional organizers and therapists who will be helping her throughout the process. They tour her home and assess the level of hoarding, which is severe. The team is concerned about her health and safety, as well as the well-being of her two cats who are living in terrible conditions.

One of the professional organizers explains to Sandra that hoarding is a mental health disorder and that it's not her fault. She urges her to be open to the process and to trust the team's guidance.

The team begins by organizing and bagging up all of the garbage and debris. They wear protective suits and masks to protect themselves from the hazardous materials. The process is slow-going, as Sandra is resistant to parting with her possessions.

At one point, Sandra finds a dead mouse in her home and becomes hysterical. She breaks down crying and says that she can't live like this anymore. The team is sympathetic to her distress and tries to offer her comfort, but they also know that they need to continue with the cleanup process.

Throughout the episode, we see flashbacks to Sandra's past, including her childhood. She explains that her parents were hoarders and that she learned the behavior from them. She also talks about her struggles with anxiety and depression, which have contributed to her hoarding.

As the team continues with the cleanup, they come across some disturbing items, including a rug that is covered in mold and pet urine. They are concerned that Sandra may have been living with a mold infestation, which can be extremely dangerous to her health.

Despite the setbacks, the team makes progress with the cleanup. They are able to clear out several rooms and make the home more livable. Sandra is visibly relieved and grateful for their help, but she's also overwhelmed by the amount of work that still needs to be done.

The episode ends with Sandra promising to continue with the cleanup process, with the help of the professional organizers and therapists. She expresses her gratitude for their support and acknowledges that she has a long road ahead of her.

Overall, A Horrible Sight is a difficult episode to watch, but it's also a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. Despite the challenges of hoarding disorder, Sandra is able to face her demons and take steps towards a better life. It's a powerful reminder that even in the darkest of situations, there is always hope for a brighter future.
