In the world of Discworld, the Hogfather plays an important role in people's lives. He delivers presents to children on Hogswatchnight, the Disc's version of Christmas. But when the Hogfather goes missing, Death (voiced by Ian Richardson) takes it upon himself to step in and take on the role. He enlists the help of his granddaughter Susan (Michelle Dockery) to try to uncover what happened to the Hogfather, and to make sure that the children of the Disc still get their presents.

Meanwhile, a shadowy figure known as the Auditors is trying to rid the world of the Hogfather, believing that he is a disruptive force in the universe. They enlist the help of assassin Mr. Teatime (Marc Warren) to carry out their plan, which involves stealing teeth from children across the Disc.

As Susan tries to unravel the mystery of the Hogfather's disappearance, she encounters a number of colourful characters, including the enigmatic Death of Rats (voiced by David Bradley) and the cantankerous Tooth Fairy (voiced by Joss Ackland). Along the way, she must confront her own family history and come to terms with the fact that she is, in fact, a part of the world she has been trying to distance herself from.

The show is filled with typical Discworld humour and satire, poking fun at Christmas traditions and commercialism, as well as exploring deeper themes like the nature of belief and the power of narrative. The cast is stellar, with Michelle Dockery doing an excellent job as the practical, no-nonsense Susan, and Marc Warren bringing a creepy edge to the role of Mr. Teatime. Ian Richardson's voice work as Death is suitably ominous, and David Jason (who also played the lead in the earlier Discworld adaptation, Going Postal) injects some much-needed levity into the proceedings as the bumbling wizard Albert.

One of the standout elements of the show is the design - the Discworld is brought to life with colourful, detailed sets and costumes, and the various creatures and characters that populate it are both visually striking and true to Terry Pratchett's original vision. The production team also did an excellent job of adapting the intricate plot of the novel for the screen, managing to condense and streamline while still keeping the spirit of the original intact.

Overall, Hogfather is a must-watch for fans of Terry Pratchett's work, as well as anyone who appreciates irreverent, clever fantasy storytelling. It manages to be both hilarious and poignant, with a great message about the importance of stories and belief.

Hogfather is a series that is currently running and has 1 seasons (4 episodes). The series first aired on March 28, 2011.

They approach Lord Downey (David Warner, The Omen) the Head of The Assassins' Guild with a proposal: enlist the ruthless Mr. Teatime (Marc Warren, Hustle) to kill the Hogfather. A dire situation indeed when the Hogfather disappears, because if the presents aren't delivered, all hope will be lost, and the sun will never rise again. While Death (voice of Ian Richardson, Bleak House), is summoned to fill the fat man's shoes, a further plan to outwit the Auditors is underway. But who can stop them? Death's adopted granddaughter and mild-mannered governess Susan Sto-Helit (Michelle Dockery, Fingersmith)? Mustrum Ridcully (Joss Ackland, Asylum), Head of the Unseen University? Ridcully's motley band of wizards? Hex, the thinking engine? Someone had better act fast, or the Auditors' terrible vision for a hopeless world will become a dismal reality and could spell out the end of humanity as we know it.

In Discworld, it's the night before Hogswatch. You know, that special night when the Hogfather delivers presents to the kiddies at the Hogswatch mid-winter festival in the medieval melting pot of Ankh-Morpork. What the Hogfather doesn't realize is that he's being watched by the Auditors--the Discworld's grey-robed specters who audit not money but the entire universe and maintain the neat order of things. They think human beings are ridiculous; that they are ruining the perfect universe with their willful fantasies--fantasies that make humans, well... human. Now they've formulated a plan to destroy human belief so that there's not an atom of it left and the Discworld can finally be theirs.
