Hot Set is an awesome television series that has the creative side of your brain working in overdrive. This is an extreme competition with Hollywood production designers competing for one goal in mind, the grand prize. In this television series on SYFY, two teams along with their designer are paired up. The designers and crew have to brainstorm and then execute their ideas. Teams are put head to head against each other to create movie sets.

Hot Set doesn't have competitions to create just any kind of set, the show wants sets like: Fantasy, Horror, and Science Fiction. Hideous, monstrous, and of course, down right outrageous is how you will get judged. Ben Mankiewicz, is the host. The teams only have a budget of $15,000 dollars to buy materials, and for constructing actual set. With only three days to convert their ideas into a reality we watch the chaotic, nail biting, and edge of your seat seen unfold.

Hot Set lets the viewers obtain an idea of what kind of hard work, dedication,and skill goes into creating Hollywood science fiction movie sets. Starting with a blank stage, we see the stage come to life before our eyes. Once the deadline comes each team is judged equally on different criteria which include: overall composition, the feeling the set gives off, mise-en-scene, and creativity. The teams must make a short clip to see how their set preforms, in accordance to that the set must pass the test acoustics challenge. The team's stage is put to the test, after much debate, the judges will make a final decision. The judges are, Curt Beech, Barry Robison, and Lilly Kilvert . After the dramatic judgment the host will make the statement of who the winner is. The winner gets a grand prize of $10,000 dollars. Hot Set has a unique twist with highs and lows. This series also shows light about the fast paced, time sensitive, and high powered environment Hollywood designers work in.
