Ep 11. Together

The House of Lies season 3 episode 11, titled "Together," follows the management consultant team of Marty Kaan (played by Don Cheadle) and his colleagues Jeannie Van Der Hooven (played by Kristen Bell), Doug Guggenheim (played by Josh Lawson), and Clyde Oberholt (played by Ben Schwartz) as they face new challenges in their quest to manipulate and deceive their clients for maximum profit.

At the start of the episode, Marty and Jeannie are tasked with helping a struggling yogurt company called Gro-Pro improve their sales numbers. But when they meet with the company's CEO, they discover that he is involved in a bitter legal battle with his ex-wife over custody of their children. As a result, the CEO is emotionally distracted and unable to focus on his job, which is causing sales to suffer.

Marty and Jeannie recognize that the best way to help Gro-Pro is not through traditional business tactics, but by addressing the CEO's personal problems head-on. They offer to help him and his ex-wife come to a mutually beneficial arrangement for custody of their children, which would allow the CEO to fully concentrate on his job again.

Meanwhile, Doug and Clyde are working on a project to help a wealthy tech entrepreneur named Lex (played by Griffin Dunne) expand his business. However, they quickly realize that Lex is not interested in building a successful company – he only wants to use his business as a platform to pursue his own hedonistic desires. Doug and Clyde struggle to reconcile their own ambitions with Lex's self-destructive behavior.

As the episode progresses, Marty and Jeannie's efforts to help the Gro-Pro CEO lead to unexpected complications, while Doug and Clyde's project with Lex takes a dangerous turn. Ultimately, the consultants are forced to ask themselves whether their pursuit of wealth and success is worth sacrificing their own principles and values.

"Together" is a poignant and thought-provoking episode that explores the ethical dilemmas faced by modern-day consultants and business leaders. With its sharp dialogue, nuanced performances, and timely themes, this episode is a standout in the House of Lies series.
