At the start of the first season of Human Trafficking, viewers are thrown into the dark and dangerous world of human trafficking. The pilot episode, titled "Part One," sets the tone for what promises to be a heart-wrenching and powerful series focused on the devastating effects of human trafficking on both the victims and those fighting to bring the perpetrators to justice.

"Part One" follows the story of several characters whose lives are intertwined by the cruel industry of human trafficking. At the center of the narrative is a young girl named Katya (Isabelle Blais), who is forced into prostitution after being lured away from her home in Ukraine under the pretense of a modeling contract. Over the course of the episode, viewers watch as Katya is brutally forced into a trafficking ring, and begin to understand the scope of the trafficking network that exists across international borders.

We also meet FBI agent Kate Morozov (Mira Sorvino), who is tasked with investigating the trafficking network and stopping it at its source. Through her investigation, we get a glimpse into the extent of the trafficking industry and how difficult it is to track down those responsible for it.

Other characters include young runaways such as Nadia (Sarah Allen) and Helena (Lauren Lee Smith), who are also caught up in the same trafficking network as Katya. We see how their lives have been ripped apart by circumstances beyond their control, and how they are forced to make choices that no one should have to make.

Throughout the episode, we are shown the brutal reality of human trafficking. The violence inflicted upon the victims is depicted unflinchingly, and it is clear that no subject is too difficult or taboo for the show's creators to tackle. However, the show also shines a light on the incredible bravery and resilience of those who survive trafficking and those who fight against it.

As the episode progresses, the various storylines begin to intersect. Kate Morozov works with a Ukrainian police officer, Katerina Gerasimova (Joanne Kelly), to try and find the source of the trafficking network. Meanwhile, the young girls are moved from place to place, a small piece of the larger puzzle that is the trafficking operation.

As the first episode comes to a close, viewers are left hanging on a cliffhanger as one of the characters finds themselves in a life-or-death situation. It's a testament to the powerful storytelling and character development over the course of the episode that viewers will undoubtedly be eager to see what happens next.

Overall, "Part One" is a searing and compelling start to what promises to be an emotional and important series. The creators have not shied away from the brutal realities of human trafficking, but the show also offers a glimmer of hope in the form of the brave individuals fighting against it. This is an important show that sheds light on an issue that too often is overlooked or ignored, and it's not to be missed.
