Ep 4. Got to Be Part of the Texas Seven

In season 7, episode 4 of I Almost Got Away with It, we meet Randy Halprin, one of the infamous Texas Seven escapees. In 2000, Halprin and six other convicts escaped from a maximum-security prison in Texas, robbing banks and committing a string of other crimes as they evaded police for weeks. Ultimately, they were caught and brought to justice, but Halprin's story doesn't end there.

Using reenactments and interviews with Halprin himself, as well as law enforcement officials and other experts, this episode takes a closer look at how Halprin managed to evade police for so long, and how he eventually got caught. We follow his journey from his initial arrest for drug possession to his trial and conviction for murder, and ultimately to his daring escape with the rest of the Texas Seven.

We also learn about the various obstacles that law enforcement officials faced as they worked to track down Halprin and the other escapees, including false leads and dead ends.
