In Space is an American science fiction television series that aired from 1965 to 1968. Produced by Irwin Allen, the show follows the adventures of the Robinson family, who are on a space mission to colonize a new planet. The crew of the Jupiter 2 spacecraft, which includes the Robinson family, Major Don West, and the robot named Robot, encounters several obstacles and dangers as they travel through space. The show is set in the future, where technology has advanced significantly, and humans have the ability to travel to different planets.

The patriarch of the Robinson family is John Robinson, played by Guy Williams, who is the commander of the Jupiter 2. He is a former military man who is dedicated to the safety of his family and the success of the mission. June Lockhart plays his wife, Maureen Robinson, who is a scientist and responsible for the survival and well-being of the crew.

Their children, Judy (Marta Kristen), Penny (Angela Cartwright), and Will (Bill Mumy), also accompany them on the journey. Judy is a doctor, while Penny is a young girl who has a love for animals. Will is a young boy who is interested in science and technology, and he forms a close friendship with the Robot.

Mark Goddard plays Major Don West, who is the pilot of the Jupiter 2. He is John's right-hand man and is responsible for the smooth functioning of the spacecraft. Robot, voiced by Dick Tufeld, is a mechanical marvel that helps the crew in various ways, from performing repairs to fighting off dangerous creatures.

The Robinson family faces numerous difficulties on their journey, including bad weather, equipment malfunctions, and attacks from alien creatures. They also encounter other beings, both friendly and hostile, throughout their journey. One of the most notable characters is Dr. Zachary Smith, played by Jonathan Harris. Initially a saboteur sent to prevent the mission from succeeding, he becomes a regular character who frequently causes trouble for the Robinsons.

Noisy, comical, and foolish, Dr. Smith is the character who provides much of the humor in the show. He frequently puts the lives of the crew in danger due to his cowardice or selfishness, but his character is redeemed in the later seasons as he becomes more sympathetic.

In Space is known for its imaginative and colorful sets, technology, and special effects, which were innovative for their time. The show also features exciting action sequences, creative plotlines, and memorable characters, which have made it a science fiction classic loved by fans even today.

Another iconic character of the show is the Robot, which is both a source of humor and a valuable asset to the crew. Designed to protect the crew, the Robot has a number of special abilities, such as superhuman strength, the ability to detect different substances, and a built-in laser weapon.

Bob May played the role of the Robot and was responsible for the movements of the character, wearing a hot and cumbersome suit on the set. The Robot's memorable lines, such as "Danger, Will Robinson!" and "That does not compute," have become popular catchphrases.

In summary, In Space is a classic science fiction series that has stood the test of time, appreciated for its imaginative storytelling, engaging characters, and impressive visuals. Fans of the show still hold affection for the Robinson family and their adventures, making it a must-watch for science fiction enthusiasts of all ages.
