Ep 3. Psycho Pete Returns

The gang is back for another season of hilarious, inappropriate and often cringe-worthy behavior in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. In season 10 episode 3, titled "Psycho Pete Returns," the group comes face to face with an old friend who has a somewhat murky past.

The episode opens with Dennis, Dee, Charlie, and Mac sitting in Paddy's Pub, discussing their old friend Pete. According to Dee, Pete has been living in a mental institution for the past few years, undergoing treatment for a variety of psychological disorders. The rest of the group is skeptical, believing that Pete is just faking his illness to get away with his past sins.

Despite their reservations, the group decides to visit Pete in the mental institution to see for themselves if he is legitimately crazy. Once inside, they are shocked to discover that Pete appears to be completely sane and completely happy. He greets them warmly and seems genuinely excited to see them.

As the group spends more time with Pete, they begin to reminisce about old times and to recount some of the wild antics they got up to in their youth. But as the night goes on, they start to notice that Pete's behavior is becoming increasingly erratic. He begins to talk about a dark secret from his past, and his mannerisms become more and more unsettling.

As the gang tries to figure out what is going on with their old friend, he becomes increasingly agitated and begins to lash out at them. They eventually realize that Pete's mental illness is very real, and that they may have unintentionally triggered his descent into a full-blown psychotic episode.

The rest of the episode sees the gang trying to calm down Pete and prevent him from hurting himself or others. Along the way, they uncover some shocking truths about his past and are forced to confront some of their own skeletons in the closet.

As ever, the episode is full of hilarious one-liners and physical comedy, but it also touches on some more serious themes. The gang's treatment of Pete has some uncomfortable parallels to the way that society as a whole treats people with mental illness, and the episode raises some thought-provoking questions about the nature of friendship and responsibility.

"Psycho Pete Returns" is a standout episode in a standout season, and it's sure to have fans laughing and cringing in equal measure. Whether you're a long-time Sunny fan or a newcomer to the series, this episode is not to be missed.
