Ep 12. Mill Street Bistro, Part 2

In Kitchen Nightmares season 6 episode 12, the second part of the Mill Street Bistro saga begins. The episode continues the story of Chef Gordon Ramsay's attempt to turn around the failing Mill Street Bistro restaurant in Norwalk, Ohio, owned by chef and restaurateur Joe Nagy. In the previous episode, Nagy and Ramsay had an explosive confrontation, and the situation seemed hopeless. Despite this, Ramsay still believes that he can help Nagy turn things around and save the restaurant from bankruptcy.

In this episode, Ramsay arrives early in the morning, determined to get to work. He finds Nagy sitting outside the restaurant, looking defeated. Ramsay starts by trying to get Nagy to see where he's gone wrong, but the chef is resistant and insists that the problems are all down to his staff. Ramsay, however, knows that the blame doesn't lie entirely with the employees, and he sets about figuring out what's really going on.

Ramsay starts by talking to the staff, who are all unhappy and on edge. He discovers that Nagy is not paying them properly and that they are all working long hours without breaks. Ramsay is incensed by this and confronts Nagy about it. Nagy, however, is still in denial, saying that the staff is lazy and doesn't deserve to be paid more. Ramsay can see that this is not the case and that Nagy is just trying to avoid taking responsibility.

Next, Ramsay takes a look at the food situation. He discovers that Nagy has not been ordering the correct ingredients, resulting in subpar dishes. Ramsay also discovers an old freezer full of rotten meat, which he immediately has thrown out. Ramsay is furious and confronts Nagy about it. Nagy tries to blame this on his former head chef, whom he has fired, but Ramsay knows that the responsibility lies with Nagy.

Ramsay then turns his attention to the decor of the restaurant, which is outdated and uninviting. He hires a local designer to revamp the interior, and the result is stunning. The new decor is modern, fresh, and welcoming, and Ramsay hopes that this will help to entice new customers.

Finally, Ramsay takes a look at the menu and suggests some changes. He thinks that the menu is overcomplicated and not user-friendly. He suggests simplifying it and adding some more affordable options, as well as a children's menu. Nagy is initially resistant to these suggestions, but Ramsay manages to persuade him that this is the way forward.

As the episode draws to a close, it's unclear whether Ramsay has managed to turn things around for Mill Street Bistro. Nagy is still resistant to some of the changes, and there are still some underlying issues with the employees. However, it's apparent that Ramsay has made a significant impact, and there is hope for the future of the restaurant. Whether or not Nagy can take these lessons and turn his business around, though, remains to be seen.
