In Leave It to Beaver season 3 episode 18, titled "Beaver's Library Book," the Cleaver family is introduced to the library and the wonderful world of books. Beaver is assigned a book report and, with the help of his father Ward, sets out to find the perfect book. The episode starts with Beaver complaining to his father about the school project, to which he has no clue about. The book that the school has assigned him for the project is one of the more substantial classic novels, making Beaver all the more worried about finishing his assignment.

Beaver goes to the library with Ward, and they meet the librarian, who introduces him to the wonders of the library. She tells Beaver that he is allowed to pick any book he likes, as long as it is moral and informative. But Beaver, running late for his baseball game, rushes to find a book and grabs one off a shelf that appears to be about space travel. The librarian informs Beaver that the book is out of his reach, which promptly sets him off.

When they arrive at home, Ward insists that Beaver spend all his time reading the book, as he thinks it might be too advanced for him. Beaver spends the entire weekend reading the book, only to find out that it has pictures and is not very informative. Now, more panicked than ever, Beaver tries to think of a way to get an additional book - but without breaking the rules of the library.

Beaver gets advice from other family members but still cannot figure out how to get another book. Their neighbor Larry Mondello tells Beaver about a book he read, but Beaver is hesitant to use the same book for fear of getting into trouble.

Beaver eventually takes responsibility for his actions and goes to the librarian, confessing that he has lost his book and needs another one. The librarian, impressed by Beaver’s honesty, allows him to take out another book and even forgives the late fee on his Dad's account.

The episode ends with Ward teaching Beaver a lesson about responsibility and honesty, and Beaver submitting an inspiring book report that impresses his teacher.

Overall, "Beaver's Library Book" is an enjoyable and engaging episode of Leave It to Beaver that teaches kids some good life lessons. It’s a show that portrays an idealistic family lifestyle of the 1950s and 60s, where families spent time together and showed their love for each other. The episode highlights the importance of being honest, responsible, and working hard, which are values that still hold true today.
