Ep 20. Beaver's Tonsils

Beaver's Tonsils is the twentieth episode of the fourth season of the classic TV sitcom, Leave It to Beaver. In this episode, Beaver Cleaver, the youngest member of the Cleaver family, goes through a health scare that leads to a decision every child fears: getting his tonsils removed.

The episode starts with Beaver feeling under the weather, complaining to his mother, June Cleaver, about a sore throat. June tries to make him feel better by giving him soup and tablets, but nothing seems to work. The next day, Beaver's condition worsens, and he develops a fever. Ward Cleaver, Beaver's father, takes him to see the family doctor, who diagnoses him with tonsillitis.

Beaver tries to avoid the surgery by putting on a brave face and telling everyone that he is feeling better. He even sneaks out to play with his friends, but his mom finds out and is disappointed with his behaviour. She explains to him that he must take care of his health, and the surgery is for his benefit.

Beaver decides to face his fears and have the procedure done. His family is supportive, with Wally going out of his way to spend time with Beaver on the day of the surgery. June is by Beaver's side throughout, holding his hand as he is wheeled into the operating room.

The surgery is successful, and Beaver is taken to the recovery room, where he is groggy and uncomfortable. Wally tries to make him feel better by bringing in a radio, but Beaver can't focus on the music as he is in too much pain. However, with his family's love and support, he recovers quickly, and the episode ends with him joyfully eating ice cream with his family.

Beaver's Tonsils is a heartwarming episode that highlights the importance of taking care of our health. It depicts the struggles and fears a child goes through when faced with a medical procedure and shows the value of family support during difficult times. The episode also showcases the bond between the Cleaver siblings, as Wally goes out of his way to support his little brother, Beaver.
