Life is a crime drama television series that aired on NBC from September 2007 to April 2009. The show follows the story of Charlie Crews, a detective who was wrongfully imprisoned for 12 years for a crime he didn't commit and has just been exonerated. Despite facing difficulties of adjusting back to normal life after a wrongful conviction, Crews returns to his job as a detective in Los Angeles Police Department's (LAPD) major crimes division to solve an intricate and complex mystery that leads him to uncover some of the darkest secrets of the city and the people within it.

One of the central themes of the show is the concept of redemption, as Crews tries to rebuild his life and reputation while trying to track down the people who framed him, which he believes are connected to a string of high-profile murders.

Along the way, Crews is paired up with Dani Reese, his new partner in the LAPD, who is initially hesitant about working with him due to his unusual approach to the criminal investigations.

Crews' unorthodox methods and unique approach to solving crimes include meditation, Zen philosophy, and a keen eye for detail and human nature. He often gets inspiration from his time in prison, where he learned how to survive and get through each day by being in the present moment, and the new perspectives he gained when he was released.

Throughout the series, the audience gets to see flashbacks of Crews' time in prison, giving them glimpses into the events that led to his conviction. These flashbacks provide insight into his character and motivations, and also hint towards the possibility of a larger conspiracy at play.

Another key aspect of the show is the complex relationships between the various characters, as they navigate their personal and professional lives. While Crews and Reese start off on the wrong foot, they slowly build a mutual respect for each other's abilities and become close friends.

Crews' relationship with his ex-wife, Jennifer Conover, is also explored throughout the series. She left him while he was in prison and remarried, which adds a further layer of complexity to his character as he tries to reconcile his feelings for her and the reality of their situation.

Beyond the main characters, Life also features a diverse supporting cast of police officers, informants, and suspects, who help to flesh out the world of the LAPD and the city of Los Angeles.

One of the standout elements of the show is its visually stunning and distinctive style, with each episode having a unique and vibrant color palette. This attention to detail extends to the music, with a varied and eclectic mix of songs being used to accentuate the different moods and tones of each scene.

Despite critical acclaim and a dedicated fanbase, Life was canceled by NBC after two seasons due to low ratings. However, it has since gained a cult following and is regarded as one of the most underrated crime dramas of the 2000s.

Overall, Life is a thought-provoking and compelling series that delves into themes of redemption, human nature, and the complexities of the criminal justice system, all while delivering thrilling and suspenseful crime-solving storylines.

Life is a series that is currently running and has 3 seasons (38 episodes). The series first aired on September 26, 2007.
