Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman was a popular television series in the 1990s that followed the adventures of the iconic superhero, Clark Kent/Superman (played by Dean Cain), and his love interest, reporter Lois Lane (played by Teri Hatcher). The show had a light-hearted, romantic tone, and often focused more on the characters' relationships than on their superheroics.

The fourth season of the show premiered in 1996 and featured 22 episodes. The fourth episode of the season was titled "Soul Mates" and saw Lois and Clark investigating a series of bizarre murders that seemed to be related to a cult that worshiped an ancient demon. As they delved deeper into the case, they discovered that they themselves might be the demon's next victims.

The episode began with Lois and Clark attending a Halloween party at their friend Jimmy Olsen's apartment. As they mingled with the other partygoers, they noticed that several of them were wearing strange necklaces with an unusual symbol on them. They also saw a mysterious woman watching them from across the room, who seemed to be aware of their interest in the necklaces.

The next day, Lois and Clark were assigned to investigate a murder case by their boss, Perry White. The victim was a man named Paul Fisher, who had been found dead in a hotel room under bizarre circumstances. His body had been drained of all blood, and he had strange markings on his neck that matched the symbol on the necklaces from the party.

As Lois and Clark dug deeper into the case, they discovered that Fisher had been a member of a secretive cult that worshiped an ancient demon named Asmodel. According to legend, Asmodel was a powerful entity that could control people's minds and force them to do his bidding. The cult believed that by sacrificing innocent victims, they could gain Asmodel's favor and become his chosen ones.

As they continued their investigation, Lois and Clark began to suspect that the cult might be targeting them next. They had each received strange phone calls in which they heard the voice of a woman chanting in a language they didn't understand. They also found an old book that contained information about Asmodel and his followers, which seemed to have been left for them specifically.

Despite their fear, Lois and Clark refused to back down from the case. They enlisted the help of their friends and colleagues, including Jimmy and Superman's Kryptonian parents, Jor-El and Lara. Together, they uncovered a shocking conspiracy that went all the way to the top of Metropolis's wealthiest and most powerful families.

As they raced to stop the cult's plans and prevent more innocent lives from being lost, Lois and Clark's relationship was put to the test. They were forced to confront their own fears and vulnerabilities, and to rely on each other more than ever before. In the end, they emerged stronger and more dedicated than ever to their mission of saving the world, one story at a time.

The episode was well-received by fans of the series, who appreciated its blend of action, suspense, and romance. They also praised the performances of Cain and Hatcher, who had great chemistry as the show's central couple. Overall, "Soul Mates" was a memorable installment in Lois & Clark's fourth season, and an example of the show's enduring appeal more than 25 years later.
