In Lords of the Animals, cameras follow men and women as they work to train, keep, and catch wild animals that they use for several purposes. This series focuses on exotic, not often seen, and popular animals from all over the world. Each episode focuses on the animal's story, the keeper that is training the animal, and looks at the culture and world in which both live.

All of the animals featured are trained to perform specific tasks, with most being used for manual labor or entertainment purposes. Viewers are made aware of all the circumstances around each animal and the person that keeps them, in a way that bridges the human and animal world together.
