Ep 3. The Sorceror of Creation

The Sorcerer of Creation is the third episode of the first season of the Japanese anime series Magi. The episode introduces a new character, Aladdin, who seems to have a mysterious past.

The episode begins with Alibaba and Morgiana, who have barely escaped the dungeon where they last met, finally arriving in a bustling city. Alibaba is overjoyed at finally seeing a city like this, but Morgiana doesn't share the same sentiments. She is still reserved and cautious, preferring not to trust anyone she meets, especially those connected to the slave trade. Alibaba, however, is looking for a way to make some quick money and decides to show off his sword skills in the city square.

It is here that Aladdin is introduced, a young boy with a blue flute around his neck and a strange magic around him. He curiously follows Alibaba to a café where they sit to drink some tea. Aladdin is fascinated with Alibaba's sword skills while Alibaba is intrigued by Aladdin's peculiar nature. Aladdin explains that he is looking for someone who can read the ancient text that he has in his possession. Alibaba agrees to help him with his search.

The two set off to find a man named Markkio, who is reputed to have knowledge about ancient texts. They learn that he is dead but they come across his son Sani who runs a small shop of his own. Sani tells them that his father was a sorcerer who created magical items, and he shows them one – a magical ink pen. Sani agrees to help them read the text.

Meanwhile, Morgiana, who has been wandering around the city, comes across a group of people staring at a young girl who is performing feats simply with the help of a staff. She is an imprisoned slave from the dark continent and is being auctioned off as a powerful item to the highest bidder. Morgiana is disgusted at the sale of another human being but is unable to do anything about it.

Back at Sani's shop, Aladdin and Alibaba learn that the text they have is not an ancient text but rather, it is connected to the sorcerer who created magical items. They realize that the ink pen that Sani showed them was one of the sorcerer's creations. That's when they hear a loud explosion coming from outside. They rush to find a group of thieves trying to steal the Sorcerer's creations, including the ink pen. Among the group of thieves is a young boy who is controlling a genie. The genie immediately recognizes Aladdin and is amazed at the amount of magic he possesses.

The thieves manage to steal the ink pen, and Aladdin and Alibaba head back to the café to make a plan to retrieve it. Aladdin discovers that the young boy with the genie is actually the same boy he saw in the desert when he was walking with Alibaba and Morgiana. They decide to confront the boy and head towards his hideout.

At the hideout, the young boy reveals himself as Judar, a powerful sorcerer working for the empire. He informs them that he has already used the ink pen to awaken a dungeon. He demands that Aladdin, who he believes is a Magi, opens the dungeon for him. Aladdin refuses and is prepared to fight Judar and his genie. Alibaba and Morgiana arrive, and a fierce battle ensues. Aladdin's magical powers, which come from his blue flute, come in handy, and he is able to stop Judar and his genie. They retrieve the ink pen, but realize that it is a decoy and the real item is the blue flute that Aladdin has.

The episode ends with Morgiana asking Aladdin about his origins and his connection to the Magi. Aladdin remains evasive, indicating that he has a hidden past that still needs to be revealed.
