Kaylie's father decides to throw a party for their new gym, The Rock. As his way of celebrating the reopening of the gym, he hires a new coach to help the girls. Sasha Beloff is a former Olympic gymnastics coach and brings a different approach to training. He is stern and unforgiving, which the girls are not used to. They are pushed to their limits mentally and physically.

Sasha's presence has a great impact on everybody at The Rock. He intimidates Emily right off the bat, and Payson is struggling to adjust to Sasha's style of coaching. Lauren and Kaylie, however, are excited to work with Sasha and see what he can do to improve their skills. They both view him as the opportunity to take their gymnastics to the next level.

Sasha's approach is unlike anything they've experienced before. He is constantly criticizing their work, but always manages to give constructive criticism. He urges them to prepare for competition as if they are going to war. Sasha shares his philosophy on how for an athlete to excel, they need to understand their own path and then learn about their competitors. To teach them this, he has them watch tapes of previous competitions to study their opponents and improve their own routines.

The rest of the girls are less than impressed with Sasha. They view him as a harsh and unforgiving coach, which is not what they're used to. He tells them that they need to start viewing gymnastics as a job, which is not what they thought it was. The team’s morale is low, and it seems that they are not making progress.

The girls discover that Sasha has a dark past, and he has one particular student (Carrie) whom he regrets training. Carrie didn't make the Olympics because she choked during her routines. He believes he didn't prepare his athlete enough for the pressures of competition. Sasha's past makes the girls start to see him in a different light.

Sasha pushes the girls even further, which leads to tension between Payson and Kaylie. Although Kaylie wants to continue to impress Sasha and compete at the highest level, Payson is not ready to push herself further. She feels Sasha's style of coaching is too intense and is worried about risking an injury that could ruin her chances of making it to the Olympics.

When they watch the tape of a competition, Lauren discovers that Kaylie had previously competed with a serious injury. Somehow, Kaylie had managed to hide the injury from everyone, including her father. The girls find themselves forced to make difficult decisions when they discover that Sasha is putting immense pressure on Kaylie to compete.

While the girls struggle to find their feet with Sasha's way of pushing them, the coach himself must face his past demons. Sasha has put his entire career on the line to accept the job at The Rock. He is betting that he can take these average girls and turn them into Olympic champions, but at what cost?

Sunday, Bloody Sasha, Sunday is an emotionally charged episode where we see how Sasha is testing the girls to their limits, both mentally and physically. With a new coach comes new challenges, and the girls are faced with relearning how to train for competitions. With Sasha's intense methods to push his athletes to their limits, the girls must learn to adapt or risk being left behind. This episode is a must-watch for anyone who loves a good underdog story.
