Ep 16. Afterlife

Afterlife is the sixteenth episode of the second season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and it continues the story from the previous episode, who you really are. As the title suggests, the episode is about the afterlife, but not in a traditional sense. The afterlife in this episode refers to a secret community of Inhumans, individuals with superhuman abilities created by the Kree experiment seen in previous episodes.

The episode begins with Skye arriving at Afterlife, a hidden community that serves as a sanctuary and home for people like her. Skye meets her mother, Jiaying, who is the leader of the Inhumans in Afterlife. After living most of her life thinking her mother was dead, Skye is now reunited with her and seeking answers about her past.

Meanwhile, Coulson and his team are still dealing with the aftermath of the events at the S.H.I.E.L.D. base, where they discovered that the organization had been infiltrated by Hydra. Coulson is concerned about Skye's disappearance; he knows that the mysterious organization that had been monitoring her is still out there and could pose a threat to her safety. Coulson decides to track down Agent May, who had left the base to deal with some personal issues.

Coulson and May eventually meet up, and Coulson asks May to help him track down Skye and bring her back to safety. May agrees, but not before secretly contacting her ex-husband, Dr. Andrew Garner, who is a psychologist and an expert on the Inhumans. May wants Garner to provide some insights into how Skye might be coping in her new environment.

Back at Afterlife, Skye is struggling to adjust to her new life with the Inhumans. She has a hard time adjusting to the Inhumans' customs and traditions, and her interactions with her mother are strained. She also meets Lincoln Campbell, another Inhuman who takes her under his wing and helps her understand her new abilities.

Meanwhile, Bobbi, Mack, and Hunter are on a mission to get some information from S.H.I.E.L.D.'s mainframe. They are successful in their mission but discover something unexpected that puts them all in danger.

The episode climaxes with a standoff between Coulson's team and the Inhumans over Skye's safety. Coulson is convinced that the Inhumans pose a threat to Skye and that they need to bring her back to S.H.I.E.L.D. However, Jiaying and the other Inhumans are wary of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s intentions and want to protect Skye at all costs. The standoff is resolved in a surprising way that sets up the next set of conflicts between S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Inhumans.

Overall, Afterlife is an exciting episode that continues the season's central storyline. The episode raises some important questions about identity, loyalty, and trust as the characters navigate their way through a dangerous and uncertain world.
