Allison DuBois, played by Patricia Arquette, is a suburban housewife and mother of three who happens to be gifted with psychic abilities. She is able to communicate with the dead and see visions of events before they happen. In the second season of Medium, Allison works as a consultant for the Phoenix District Attorney's office, using her gift to help solve crimes and bring justice to victims.

In episode 10, titled "The Reckoning," Allison is contacted by a man named Tom who claims to have information about a murder case she worked on in the past. The victim, a young woman named Mia, was killed by her abusive husband, Chad, who was later convicted and sent to prison. However, Tom insists that Chad is innocent and that Mia's real killer is still out there.

Allison is hesitant to believe Tom at first, but as she digs deeper into the case, she begins to uncover new evidence that supports his claims. She also starts experiencing visions of Mia's murder that contradict the official police reports.

Meanwhile, Allison's husband Joe (Jake Weber) is struggling with his own personal demons. He has been keeping a secret from his family: he was recently diagnosed with cancer and has been undergoing treatments without telling them. Joe's health problems come to a head in this episode, as he faints at work and is rushed to the hospital.

Allison is torn between her duty to help Tom clear Chad's name and her concern for Joe's health. She turns to her friend and fellow psychic, the eccentric Professor Corman (Kurtwood Smith), for guidance. Corman advises her to focus on her own well-being and not to neglect her family.

As Allison continues to investigate Mia's murder, she discovers that the real killer may be closer than she thought. She also learns some surprising new information about Tom that puts his motives into question. In the end, Allison must make a difficult choice that could have far-reaching consequences for everyone involved.

"The Reckoning" is a tense and emotionally charged episode that explores themes of justice, betrayal, and forgiveness. The performances by the talented cast, particularly Arquette and Weber, are top-notch. The writing is intelligent and nuanced, balancing the supernatural elements of the show with the realistic portrayal of family dynamics. Fans of crime dramas and supernatural thrillers will find plenty to enjoy in this episode and the overall series.
