Ep 8. Dancing With the Stars of Toledo

When young, cheerful and indulgent Melissa Burke (Melissa Joan Hart) loses her babysitting job, she is forced to take care of her niece and nephew while their parents are out of town. In order to make ends meet, she hires Joe Longo (Joey Lawrence), a former executive, to become the home's male nanny. Although they initially find it difficult to get along, Melissa and Joe gradually develop a friendship that leads to a romantic connection.

In the eighth episode of the series titled "Dancing With the Stars of Toledo," Melissa and Joey discover that their favorite local dance show, "Dancing With the Stars of Toledo," is holding auditions for the upcoming season, and they immediately decide to try out. The two of them know they would be a winning team, and they both have a fondness for the show from their childhood, but when they compete against each other and their individual dance partners for a spot, their competitive sides come out, causing tension between the two friends.

Melissa competes alongside her professional dance partner Louis (Hiro Tanaka), in hopes of winning the prize money to help pay for her nephew Ryder's (Nick Robinson) new car, while Joey partners with professional dancer Elena (Brooke Burke), who happens to be an ex-girlfriend of his. The duo spends hours rehearsing every move leading up to the competition, and tensions begin to surge when Melissa discovers that Joe once dated Elena.

Just when the team believes they are well-prepared for the competition, a misunderstanding between Melissa and Joe leads to a major hiccup in their routine. This puts their entire performance in jeopardy, and they must work together to come up with a solution in time for the big night.

As the competition draws nearer, both Melissa and Joey begin to feel the pressure of their personal lives and the demands of their rehearsing. Joey's ex-girlfriend Elena arrives in town, spending time with both Joey and Melissa, causing them both to feel like they are being pulled in opposite directions.

As the competition begins, things go awry when Joe's ex-girlfriend Elena shows up to watch from the sidelines, and Melissa witnesses a moment between them that she misinterprets. Despite the tension, both Melissa and Joey continue with their dance, hoping to prove they are better than their foes.

In the end, Melissa and Joey learn that dancing as a team takes more than just fantastic footwork, hoping to repair their friendship after everything that has occurred between them during the preparation for the contest.
