In Melrose Place (1992) season 1 episode 4 "For Love or Money", the residents of the titular apartment complex continue to navigate their complicated personal and professional lives. Allison (Courtney Thorne-Smith) is struggling to balance her job as an advertising copywriter with her growing romantic feelings for her boss, Billy (Andrew Shue). Meanwhile, Jake (Grant Show) tries to make ends meet by working as a motorcycle mechanic, but his hot-headed temper keeps getting him into trouble with both his employer and the law.

Elsewhere in the building, Michael (Thomas Calabro) is torn between his long-suffering wife, Jane (Josie Bissett), and his glamorous ex-girlfriend, Kimberly (Marcia Cross). When Kimberly suddenly returns to town, Michael finds himself drawn back into their complicated and turbulent relationship.

At the same time, David (Brian Austin Green) struggles to reconcile his desire for a career in music with the expectations of his wealthy and controlling father. He turns to his neighbor, Sandy (Amy Locane), for support and advice as he tries to strike out on his own.

As the episode progresses, tensions continue to mount as the various characters face new challenges and obstacles. Allison's growing attraction to Billy threatens to derail both her professional success and her friendships with her coworkers. Jake's impulsiveness puts him in danger yet again, and Michael's infidelity threatens to destroy his marriage once and for all.

Despite these conflicts, however, the residents of Melrose Place remain determined to find love, success, and happiness in their own ways. As the episode comes to a close, they each face new choices and opportunities that will shape their futures in ways they can't yet anticipate.
