Memphis Beat is a dramatic television series that premiered on TNT in 2010. The show stars Jason Lee as Dwight Hendricks, a police detective in the city of Memphis, Tennessee. Alongside Lee, the show boasts a stellar cast of talented actors, including Alfre Woodard, Sam Hennings, DJ Qualls, Celia Weston, Leonard Earl Howze, and Abraham Benrubi.

The series follows Hendricks as he navigates the complexities of life in Memphis, a city rich in history and culture, but also plagued by crime and corruption. Throughout the show's two seasons, Hendricks and his fellow detectives tackle a wide range of cases, from murders and robberies to kidnappings and drug trafficking.

At the heart of the series is Hendricks himself, a charming and charismatic detective with a deep connection to Memphis and its people. He is a man who cares deeply about his community and takes his job as a police officer very seriously. He is also a talented musician, often playing his guitar at local venues and using his music as a way to connect with people.

Woodard plays Lt. Tanya Rice, Hendricks' no-nonsense boss and mentor. As a high-ranking officer in the Memphis police department, Rice is fiercely dedicated to her job and often clashes with Hendricks over his unorthodox methods. Despite their differences, however, the two have a deep respect for each other and work closely together to solve cases.

Hennings plays Detective Charlie "Whitehead" White, Hendricks' partner and closest friend on the force. Unlike Hendricks, White is a by-the-book detective who often struggles to keep his partner in line. Nevertheless, the two have a strong bond, and White is always there to back up Hendricks when he needs it.

Qualls plays Davey Sutton, a forensic specialist with the Memphis police department. Despite his awkward demeanor and occasional social missteps, Davey is a brilliant scientist who plays a crucial role in solving many of the show's cases. He also forms a close friendship with Hendricks over the course of the series.

Weston plays Adele Bishop, the owner of Adele's Bar, a local watering hole that Hendricks frequents. Adele is a no-nonsense woman who is always on hand to dispense advice and offer a sympathetic ear to her patrons. She is a key figure in Hendricks' life and often serves as his confidante.

Howze plays Reginald Greenback, a detective in Hendricks' unit. Despite his tough exterior, Reginald is an affable guy who always has a smile on his face. He is also a bit of a ladies' man and often uses his charm to help solve cases.

Benrubi plays Sgt. JC Lightfoot, a veteran police officer and one of Hendricks' colleagues. Lightfoot is a no-nonsense type of guy who doesn't suffer fools gladly. He is also a bit of a loner, preferring to keep to himself and focus on his work.

Overall, Memphis Beat is a compelling and entertaining drama that skillfully combines elements of crime procedural with a heartfelt exploration of life in Memphis. The show's talented cast and well-crafted scripts make it a must-watch for fans of the genre.
