This epic saga chronicles the life and times of the great characters of Camelot from the perspective of Merlin the Wizard. He retells the story of his unnatural birth and youth and how he came to be a wizard with the help of an old woman named Ambrosia and a queen named Mab. Queen Mab eventually becomes Merlin's enemy and the two clash repeatedly in their quest for power and the true king of Camelot. Merlin also recounts how he came to possess the great sword Excalibur and with it how he helped Arthur to become King of Camelot and how their friendship grew over time. During Arthur's reign, Camelot goes through many trials and wars, and Arthur and Merlin work to stop the threats that would destroy the kingdom. The story interweaves the characters of Morgan le Fay, Mordred, Guinevere, Lancelot and many others into a spellbinding tale of political intrigue, betrayal, war and love.
