In Metalocalypse season 1 episode 12, Murdering Outside The Box, the members of the death metal band Dethklok are faced with a unique challenge. As they wrap up the production of their latest album, they realize that their music has been copied and stolen by other artists.

The episode begins with Dethklok’s manager Charles feeling unnerved. He has been keeping a close eye on the band’s online statistics and realizes that their album sales have gone down suddenly. Upon digging deeper, he realizes that other musicians have been using Dethklok’s music, videos, and imagery without permission.

The band members are outraged to hear this news. They feel that their hard-earned musical talents have been stolen by other artists who don’t even have the skills to create original content. The band tries to discuss the issue with their record label, but they are not taken seriously. The label’s executives feel that the reproductions haven’t harmed their sales, and they feel that the band’s concerns are exaggerated.

This lack of concern from their record label incites Dethklok into action. They set out to bring justice to the theft of their music by creating a spectacle. They start by hosting a protest rally in front of the record label’s office. The rally is attended by hundreds of fans who are chanting and holding up posters that read, “Dethklok’s music is not for sale!”

During the rally, Nathan Explosion - the lead vocalist of the band - spots a band who have been stealing their music across the street. He decides to confront them, which leads to a heated exchange between the bands. As Nathan tries to explain why their music should not be stolen, the lead of the other band, Magnus, becomes infuriated.

Magnus tries to attack Nathan, and the two bands have a violent brawl in the street. The authorities arrive and arrest Nathan and the other members of Dethklok. They are taken to jail and held there for hours until their manager bails them out.

The band members are angry and feel helpless. They don’t understand why their music has been stolen, and why nobody seems to be taking their complaints seriously. They realize that they need to come up with a plan to make themselves heard.

Meanwhile, the rival band, known as Brutal Legend, continues to copy Dethklok’s music and videos for their own gain. They even produce a music video that is an exact replica of Dethklok’s latest release. The video becomes a viral hit, and their band sees a significant spike in popularity and album sales.

Dethklok members are shocked and angry that their rivals are getting away with using their music without penalty. They decide that enough is enough and hatch a plan to take back control of their music.

The episode comes to a dramatic finale as Dethklok decides to create an over-the-top spectacle of a concert. They perform live on national television at the same time that Brutal Legend is set to release their new music video. The concert is a one-of-a-kind event that is filled with pyrotechnics, oversized stage props, and a storyline that is centered around the theft of their music.

As the concert is being televised, Brutal Legend’s new music video is being broadcast on other channels. People start to switch over from the music video to Dethklok’s performance, and their ratings surge. Brutal Legend’s music video is soon forgotten as fans flock to the unique spectacle that Dethklok has created.

The concert helps the band to reclaim their music and regain the respect they deserve. It also shows the world that Dethklok is not willing to back down when their music is being stolen. The episode ends with the band celebrating their victory and feeling optimistic about the future of their music.
