Ep 28. The Psychic

The episode begins with the IMF being contacted by a client who believes she is being scammed by a psychic named Nicholas Groat. She claims that he's taken advantage of her vulnerability and has promised her that he can speak to her dead husband. The IMF team is asked to uncover Groat's scam and put an end to it.

As the team begins to investigate, they quickly realize that Groat isn't just any ordinary psychic. He's a skilled hypnotist who uses his abilities to convince his clients that he's communicating with their deceased loved ones. The team decides to infiltrate Groat's organization by posing as potential clients, hoping to get close enough to him to uncover his secrets.

Things start to get complicated when team member Rollin Hand seems to fall under Groat's spell. Groat has been able to convince Rollin that he's communicating with Rollin's deceased friend, and Rollin becomes increasingly obsessed with finding out more about Groat's powers. This puts the entire mission in jeopardy, as Rollin's cover could be blown at any moment.

Meanwhile, Jim Phelps and the rest of the team continue to gather information on Groat's organization. They discover that Groat is actually using his hypnotic abilities to control his clients and get them to perform illegal activities on his behalf. He's using his "psychic" powers to manipulate people into doing his bidding, and making a lot of money in the process.

As the team gets closer to Groat, they realize that the only way to stop him is to prove to his clients that he's a fraud. They come up with a plan to create a fake séance, in which they will use technology to simulate the appearance of a deceased loved one. If they can successfully fool Groat's clients, they can expose him and put an end to his scams.

The plan is risky, but they manage to pull it off. They set up the fake séance and convince Groat's clients that they are really communicating with their loved ones. But when the truth is revealed, Groat's clients turn on him and he's left with nothing.

The episode ends with the team celebrating their victory, but also reflecting on the dangers of people like Groat who use their abilities to manipulate vulnerable people for their own gain.
