Monday Night Football Season 18 Episode 13 New York Jets at Miami Dolphins
- December 7, 1987
The New York Jets are heading south to take on the Miami Dolphins in this week's edition of Monday Night Football. Both teams are coming off of key victories, with the Jets defeating the Washington Redskins and the Dolphins taking down the Green Bay Packers.
The Jets will be hoping to continue their winning ways as they face off against a divisional opponent. Led by rookie quarterback Sam Darnold, the Jets offense has shown flashes of excellence this season, but will need to put it together for a full game if they hope to win on the road against the Dolphins.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Jets will be without one of their top players in linebacker Darron Lee, who was suspended for the game after violating the league's substance abuse policy. It will be up to the rest of the defense, led by safety Jamal Adams and defensive end Leonard Williams, to step up and make game-changing plays.
The Miami Dolphins, on the other hand, are hoping to build off of their impressive win over the Packers. Quarterback Brock Osweiler will once again be leading the charge for the offense, as starter Ryan Tannehill continues to recover from a shoulder injury. Osweiler has been solid in relief, but will be facing a tough Jets defense that ranks in the top 10 in yards allowed per game.
The Dolphins defense, which has been a strength of the team all season, will look to continue its dominance against a Jets offense that has struggled at times. Led by safety Reshad Jones and defensive end Cameron Wake, the Dolphins defense has forced turnovers and made clutch stops when needed.
With both teams looking to stay in the playoff hunt, this game promises to be a hard-fought battle from start to finish. As always, Monday Night Football will be the place to be for football fans across the country, as two division rivals clash under the bright lights of prime time.
