Monday Night Football Season 25 Episode 2 Chicago Bears at Philadelphia Eagles

  • September 12, 1994

As the Chicago Bears make their way to the City of Brotherly Love to take on the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2 of Monday Night Football, fans wonder what the outcome will be. These two teams have a long-standing rivalry, with both teams striving to come out on top. The Bears have been busy in the offseason, adding former Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles as their starting quarterback for the 2020 season, while the Eagles have brought back veteran quarterback Carson Wentz after a disappointing 2019 campaign.

The game kicks off in an electric atmosphere at Lincoln Financial Field, with fans from both teams cheering their respective teams on. The Eagles come out of the gates strong, with Wentz connecting with wide receiver DeSean Jackson on a long touchdown pass on the opening drive. However, the Bears’ defense, led by Pro Bowl linebackers Khalil Mack and Roquan Smith, manages to shut down the Eagles’ offense for most of the rest of the first half, allowing only a field goal.

Meanwhile, Foles and the Bears’ offense struggle to gain momentum against a tough Eagles defense, missing several key opportunities to score. However, they manage to put together a scoring drive just before halftime, with Foles connecting with tight end Jimmy Graham for a touchdown pass to tie the game at 10-10.

The second half starts off with a bang, as Eagles running back Miles Sanders breaks free for a long touchdown run to give the Eagles a 17-10 lead. However, the Bears’ offense responds with a quick drive of their own, capped off by a touchdown pass from Foles to wide receiver Allen Robinson, tying the game up again at 17-17.

The game becomes a defensive battle for the rest of the second half, with both teams’ defenses making key stops and turnovers. The Eagles’ defense manages to intercept Foles twice in the fourth quarter, but their offense isn’t able to capitalize on their opportunities. Meanwhile, the Bears’ defense shuts down the Eagles’ offense for most of the second half, but a late field goal by Philadelphia gives them a 20-17 lead with less than two minutes left in the game.

With the game on the line, Foles leads the Bears’ offense down the field, connecting with Robinson and Graham on several key passes. With 10 seconds left in the game, Foles throws a pass to Robinson in the end zone, who makes an incredible catch to give the Bears a 24-20 lead.

The Eagles get one last chance to score, but the Bears’ defense manages to hold them off, securing a hard fought 24-20 victory for the Bears. Foles finishes with 287 yards passing, two touchdowns, and two interceptions, while Wentz throws for 240 yards and one touchdown.

Overall, it was a thrilling game between two evenly-matched teams, with both sides showing a lot of heart and determination. The Bears’ defense, led by Mack and Smith, proved to be too much for the Eagles’ offense, while Foles and the Bears’ offense managed to make some key plays when it counted. With this win, the Bears move to 1-1 on the season, while the Eagles fall to 0-2.
