Moonlighting was a popular television series that aired on ABC from 1985 to 1989. The show starred Cybill Shepherd as Maddie Hayes, a former model who is left bankrupt when her accountant embezzles all her money. She ends up taking over a detective agency that she had previously invested in and hires Bruce Willis as David Addison, a wisecracking private investigator.

The chemistry between Shepherd and Willis was the driving force behind the show's success. They bickered constantly, but there was also an undercurrent of sexual tension that captivated viewers. Maddie and David's relationship was always on the brink of developing into something more, but they never quite got there, which kept audiences guessing and tuning in week after week.

The show's unique style was a mix of comedy, drama, and romance, with each episode having its own distinct format. Some were traditional detective stories, while others were parodies of popular film genres. Moonlighting was also known for its use of breaking the fourth wall, with the characters directly addressing the audience and poking fun at the tropes of television and Hollywood.

Another standout aspect of the show was its supporting cast. Allyce Beasley played Agnes DiPesto, Maddie and David's quirky and lovable secretary, while Curtis Armstrong played Herbert Viola, a film buff who often assisted the detectives in their cases. The trio provided much of the show's comic relief and helped to round out the world of the series.

Despite its popularity, Moonlighting was not without its behind-the-scenes drama. The show was infamous for its production delays, with episodes often taking weeks or even months to complete. This was due in part to the show's unique filming style and its heavy reliance on improvisation. However, it was also a result of tension between Shepherd and Willis, who had a notoriously volatile relationship both on and off set.

Still, none of this could detract from the show's impact on popular culture. Moonlighting paved the way for other shows that blended genres and experimented with storytelling techniques, and it remains a fan-favorite to this day.

Moonlighting is a series that is currently running and has 5 seasons (67 episodes). The series first aired on March 3, 1985.
