In Mountain Men season 3 episode 8, titled "Rite of Passage," we follow several of our favorite mountain men as they brave the wilderness to provide for themselves and their families.
First, we catch up with Tom Oar, who has embarked on a journey to obtain a new horse after losing his previous one. With the help of a friend, Tom travels far and wide to find the perfect horse to suit his needs. Along the way, he faces several challenges, including steep terrain and unpredictable weather, but ultimately he proves that his skills as a mountain man are as sharp as ever.
Next, we check in with Eustace Conway, who is preparing for the annual Turtle Island Rendezvous. This celebration of mountain man culture is something Eustace holds dear, and he spares no effort to make sure the event goes off without a hitch. We see him meticulously preparing his camp, teaching newcomers the ins and outs of survival, and even taking them on a hunting trip to stock up on food.
Meanwhile, Marty Meierotto is facing his own set of challenges. After trapping a wolverine, he must find a way to sell the animal's fur in a market that is becoming increasingly competitive. Determined to make a profit, Marty heads to a fur auction in Montana, where he faces tough competition from other trappers who are vying for the same buyers.
Finally, we check in with Rich Lewis, who is still trying to make a living in the harsh Alaskan wilderness. With his dogs by his side, Rich embarks on a perilous journey to track down a pack of wolves that have been preying on his traplines. The hunt is fraught with danger, and Rich must use all of his skills to outsmart the cunning predators.
Throughout the episode, we see the mountain men facing challenges and obstacles that would be insurmountable to most people. From harsh weather conditions to ruthless competition, these men prove time and again that they have what it takes to survive in the wilderness. Through their trials and tribulations, we are reminded of the grit and determination that define the mountain man way of life.
