Mr. Selfridge season 2 episode 3, titled "Episode 3," continues the story of the iconic department store in London and its founder Harry Selfridge. The episode takes place during the First World War, and the drama and tension are high as soldiers march through the streets of London and young men are recruited to fight.

At the beginning of the episode, we see Harry struggling to cope with the reality of the war. He is worried about his son Gordon, who is at the front, and is horrified by the news of the recent losses. Despite his worries, Harry is determined to stay strong and keep the store running smoothly.

Meanwhile, his employees are doing their best to contribute to the war effort. Agnes, now a manager at Selfridges, is leading a group of women who are knitting socks and scarfs for the soldiers. Kitty, who has returned from America, is working as a cigarette girl, selling cigarettes to troops on leave. And Grove, the store's head of fashion, is struggling to balance his job with his duties as an officer in the army.

As the war drags on, tensions rise between the staff and the customers. Many of the customers are upset by the new restrictions on what they can buy, and some even accuse Selfridges of profiting from the war. The staff, on the other hand, are frustrated by the lack of supplies and the constant changes to their work.

Despite these challenges, Harry remains determined to keep the store running and to provide a little bit of happiness and luxury to the people of London. He decides to organize a Christmas party for the soldiers who are on leave, and his staff work tirelessly to make it a success.

As the party approaches, tensions between the staff and the customers reach a boiling point. A group of angry customers confronts Harry and accuses him of profiting from the war, while a group of soldiers who are unhappy with the party start to cause trouble.

In the end, however, the party is a huge success, and Harry is able to show his customers and his staff that Selfridges is more than just a department store – it is a place where people can come together and find a little bit of joy even in the midst of a war.

Overall, Mr. Selfridge season 2 episode 3 is a tense and dramatic episode that explores the impact of the First World War on the people of London. With strong performances from the cast and plenty of twists and turns, it is an excellent addition to the series.
