Ep 9. Victoria Cross

Detective William Murdoch is back with another captivating case in the hit show Murdoch Mysteries, and in season 6 episode 9, titled "Victoria Cross," he is sent on a new mission. This time, he must investigate a murder involving a soldier who had been awarded the Victoria Cross.

He then realizes that Deaton might have been trailed by someone who discovered his dealings with the Russian anarchists, thus resulting in his murder. As always, the following clues are complex and challenging, and it takes a lot of work to piece them together to get a complete picture. Murdoch's team is always up for the challenge as they try to decipher what happened and who is responsible.

As Detective Murdoch comes closer to the truth, he also realizes that Sergeant Buckley might be hiding something about his history. It becomes apparent that Sergeant Buckley has a dark past, and it is one that could have significant implications for the case. Murdoch has to be careful to ensure that he does not go down the wrong trail or accuse any innocent individuals.

As usual, the period setting in this show is immaculate, and the production values are top-notch. The detective has a concise knowledge of science and technology, and this enables him to think outside the box and deduce the most complex case. It is impressive to see how he employs logical thinking, analytics and questioning to get closer to the solution. This episode always keeps the viewers guessing until the very end.

Moreover, the episode also deals with themes of war and its impact on the soldiers who fight in it. Besides, it shows how difficult it can be for those in power to make the right decisions when it comes to protecting their countries and their interests. Murdoch is always above the political affairs and political pressure that arises from the investigations and thoroughly focuses on the case to get to the root of it.

All in all, "Victoria Cross" is another solid entry in the series. Fans of the show will revel in the intricacies of the case, while newcomers to the series will likely be impressed by the production values and the technical knowledge of the detective. It is a fascinating, illuminating, and thrilling mystery, sure to satisfy fans of the genre.
