Ep 2. Lets Mac Out

  • March 27, 2011

My Drunk Kitchen is a popular web series that combines cooking and comedy in a highly entertaining way. Each episode features host Hannah Hart cooking a meal while progressively getting drunker and funnier as the show goes on. In season 1 episode 2, titled "Let's Mac Out," viewers are invited along as Hannah tries her hand at making homemade macaroni and cheese.

As the episode begins, Hannah greets viewers with her signature catchphrase, "Hello, Harto!" She informs them that she has been inspired to make mac and cheese because she recently moved into a new apartment and feels like it's a comfort food that will make her feel at home. She jokes that she could just go to the store and buy a box of Kraft mac and cheese, but where's the fun in that?

While Hannah starts boiling water for the macaroni, she also starts drinking a bottle of wine. She says that she's going to drink the whole bottle during filming, which is sure to make for some hilarious moments. She starts adding ingredients to the pot one by one, including salt, butter, and flour. As she mixes them together, the wine starts to take effect and she giggles uncontrollably.

The next step is to add milk to the pot, but Hannah realizes she doesn't have any. Instead, she improvises by adding a mixture of almond milk and heavy cream. She says it's because she's lactose intolerant but loves the taste of heavy cream. As she stirs the mixture, it starts to thicken, and she adds in some shredded cheddar cheese. The cheese doesn't melt easily, and Hannah realizes that she didn't shred it finely enough. She jokes that she's never going to be a chef because she can't even shred cheese properly.

While the mac and cheese continues to cook, Hannah takes a break to play with her dog, who makes a cameo appearance. She talks about how he's the best roommate she's ever had and how he doesn't judge her for eating an entire pot of macaroni and cheese by herself. As she returns to the pot, she realizes that the mixture is getting too thick and adds more almond milk to thin it out. She also adds some bread crumbs and crushed up potato chips on top for a bit of crunch.

Finally, the macaroni and cheese is done, and Hannah takes a big bite. She declares that it's the best mac and cheese she's ever had, although she admits that she's probably not the most reliable judge of taste at this point. She takes a few more bites and then decides to end the episode by singing a song about how much she loves mac and cheese.

Overall, My Drunk Kitchen season 1 episode 2 is a hilarious and entertaining installment of the series. Viewers will enjoy watching Hannah stumble her way through making homemade mac and cheese while gradually getting drunker and sillier. Whether you're a fan of cooking shows or just looking for a good laugh, this episode is definitely worth checking out.
