Ep 13. Simple Ways

In My Little Pony Friendship is Magic season 4 episode 13, titled Simple Ways, the town of Ponyville is preparing for their annual Coming of Spring parade. Rarity wants to help with the preparations and compete for the title of Ponyville's most creative costume designer against her friend, Applejack. However, her focus shifts when the famous fashion photographer, Photo Finish, arrives in town and announces that she is looking for a new muse for her next photo shoot. Rarity becomes fixated on becoming Photo Finish's muse and is convinced that she needs to change everything about her fashion sense to impress her.

Meanwhile, Spike is struggling to find a way to tell his friend, Sweetie Belle, that he accidentally ruined her costume for the parade. He even tries to hide from her to avoid confrontation. However, Twilight Sparkle advises him to be honest and come clean about what happened.

As Rarity tries to reinvent herself and impress Photo Finish, she enlists the help of her friends to plan a country-themed photo shoot. But as the plans come together, Rarity's changes become too extreme and begin to affect her relationships with her friends. Applejack becomes upset with Rarity for not appreciating her own unique style, and Rarity's crush, Trenderhoof, becomes more interested in Applejack's country lifestyle than Rarity's overly dramatic changes.

The conflict between Rarity and Applejack comes to a head when Rarity, in desperate need of a unique accessory for the photo shoot, takes something from Applejack's farm without permission. This causes Applejack to lose her temper and call out Rarity for not embracing her own creativity and instead, trying to copy others.

Ultimately, Rarity realizes her mistake and learns an important lesson about being true to oneself. She returns to her own fashion sense and admits to Photo Finish that she wants to be her muse, not by changing who she is, but by staying true to her own talents and style. Spike also comes clean to Sweetie Belle about what happened to her costume, and the two siblings make up.

In the end, the Coming of Spring parade is a success, and Rarity and Applejack are able to compete properly as friends and colleagues, with Rarity ultimately earning the title of Ponyville's most creative costume designer. The episode teaches an important lesson about staying true to oneself and appreciating one's unique talents and style.
