Watch NASCAR Sprint Cup

NASCAR Sprint Cup is shown live because it is the highest level of stock car racing. Typically races are aired on Saturdays and Sundays on various cable networks. Stars such as Jeff Gordon, Jimmie, Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Mark Martin, Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski and others compete in 36 races during the year. Most races are between 400 and 600 miles long depending on the race track that is being used that week.

Some of the main events occur at Daytona International Speedway, Talladega Superspeedway and Lowe's Motor Speedway. The sport has even branched out to competing in road races such as those held at Watkins Glen and Sonoma. A handful of events such as the All Star Race and the Coca Cola 600 are held at night under the lights.

Audience members are kept on the edge of their seats because they never know if an accident will happen. The pure exhilaration of the sport is what has made the Sprint Cup Series what it is today. Most fans have a driver that they love to root for and one that they love to hate.

Points are given to each driver at the end of the race based on their final position and how many laps they led during the race. The points are tallied and the points leader has an advantage if qualifying is rained out. In the event of this occurrence, the leader is always determined to be the pole sitter which is the driver who is number one during the start of the race.

The race to the chase is the term coined for the final ten races of the year. The top ten drivers based on the overall point standings are the only drivers who are eligible to compete in trying to win the Sprint Cup Championship and millions of dollars in prize money. The winner has bragging rights for an entire season and many have gone on to have illustrious careers for years to come.
