Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation is a live-action television series that aired on Fox Kids from 1997 to 1998. This show is based on the popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic book series and features new characters and storylines that were not present in the original source material.

The series focuses on the adventures of the four turtles, named after Renaissance artists, Leonardo (Kirby Morrow), Michelangelo (Matt Hill), Donatello (Jason Gray-Stanford), and Raphael (Michael Dobson). In this iteration of the Turtles, a fifth mutant named Venus de Milo (Lalainia Lindbjerg) is introduced, who was also trained in the art of ninjitsu by Master Splinter (Stephen Mendel).

The main antagonist of this series is a modified version of the Shredder named Dragonlord (also played by Michael Dobson), who seeks to take over the world with his army of mutated creatures. Dragonlord's minions include creatures like giant scorpions, fish men, and even a mechanical dragon.

Along with the main characters, other recurring characters include the news reporter April O'Neil (Marnie McPhail), police officer Lieutenant Dregg (Garry Chalk), and the scientist Dr. Quease (Chris Gaze).

The show was known for its use of practical effects and puppetry to bring the turtles to life. Instead of using costumes or computer graphics, the turtles were portrayed by animatronic puppets controlled by puppeteers.

The series was also notable for its mature themes and darker tone compared to previous iterations of the Turtles. The show featured characters being killed or severely injured, and also included elements of betrayal and moral ambiguity.

The show only lasted one season and had a total of 26 episodes. Despite this, Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation gained a cult following and was beloved by some fans for its unique take on the Turtles franchise.

Overall, Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation was a departure from previous adaptations of the Turtles, but still managed to capture the essence of the beloved characters while introducing new elements to the mythology. Fans of the franchise and newcomers alike can enjoy this live-action series and its take on the classic heroes in a half shell.

Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation is a series that is currently running and has 1 seasons (26 episodes). The series first aired on September 12, 1997.
