When you are as prolific and popular a writer as Nora Roberts, you can't expect your work to stay confined to the printed page. The best selling romance author entered into an agreement with a basic cable channel in 2007 to begin airing some of her novels in televised form, and a new franchise was born. Televised movies based on Roberts's work began airing on a regular basis. Well made with high production values, and eclectic casts comprised of unknowns, popular television stars, and big screen legends, the movies were ratings hits.

Due to their popularity, some of these films were placed on DVD and marketed as the "Nora Roberts Collection". The plots of all eight movies in the collection stick firmly to the classic romance novel formula. Good looking, love starved men and women with unusual jobs meet, overcome obstacles, and fall in love. "Carolina Moon" tells the tale of a woman solving a friend's murder. "Angel Falls" deals with a heroine's move to escape a trauma. "Blue Smoke" features an arson investigator stalked by a killer. "Montana Sky" has sisters running a troubled ranch.

In addition to some well known stars, sharp eyed viewers may spot Roberts herself in several of these movies.
