NYC 22 was a police procedural drama series that aired on CBS in 2012. Created by Richard Price, it followed a group of rookie cops as they began their careers patrolling the streets of New York City's 22nd precinct. The show starred Adam Goldberg, Leelee Sobieski, Stark Sands, Judy Marte, Harold House Moore, Tom Reed, and Terry Kinney.

The series began with the introduction of the seven young and diverse cops who were assigned to patrol the 22nd precinct, located in Harlem. The rookies all come from different backgrounds, with various personal struggles and issues that they must confront both on and off the job. They learn quickly that being a police officer in New York City is far from easy, and that their job is much more than just arresting criminals.

Goldberg played Ray "Lazarus" Harper, a former Marine who returned home from Iraq and decided to become a cop. He has a no-nonsense attitude and a fierce determination to succeed in the NYPD. Sobieski portrayed Jennifer "White House" Perry, a wealthy heiress who became a cop to escape her privileged upbringing. She's smart, resourceful, and always eager to prove herself. Sands played Kenny McClaren, a fourth-generation cop who is struggling to establish his own identity within his family's legacy.

Over the course of the series, the rookies face a wide range of challenges, from petty theft and drug busts to violent crimes such as murder and domestic disputes. But it's not just the criminals they have to worry about; they also must navigate the complicated politics and bureaucracy of the NYPD, including corrupt cops, inexperienced supervisors, and jaded detectives.

One of the show's strengths was its focus on the personal lives of the characters. Each of the rookies had their own backstory and personality, which made them feel authentic and relatable. For example, Judy Marte's character, Tonya Sanchez, was a single mother who struggled to balance her responsibilities as a cop with her duties as a parent. Harold House Moore's character, Jayson "Jackpot" Toney, was a streetwise kid from Queens who had a chip on his shoulder and a tendency to bend the rules.

Another strong aspect of the series was its depiction of New York City itself. The show was filmed on location in real neighborhoods and used authentic New York City slang and cultural references. This gave the series a gritty, realistic feel that set it apart from other police dramas set in generic cities.

Overall, NYC 22 was a solid police procedural that focused on the personal and professional struggles of a group of diverse and complex characters. While it only lasted one season and 13 episodes, it left a lasting impression on viewers who appreciated its gritty authenticity and honest portrayal of life in the NYPD.
