Outsourced was a sitcom produced by American network NBC, which ran for a single season. The television show was based upon an independent movie of the same name that followed a similar plot revolving around an American call center manager traveling to India to train the workers in a newly outsourced order processing call center.

The 22 episode season of Outsourced starred TV newcomer Ben Rappaport as Todd Dempsey, the American manager of an American novelty products manufacturing company. Comedy is found in the cultural differences between Dempsey and his Indian members of staff; throughout the season Dempsey tries to teach his staff about American culture and his staff attempt to teach Dempsey about Indian culture.

Included in the cast was English actress Rebecca Hazlewood who played Asha. In the U.S. Hazlewood has appeared in medical drama's ER and Grey's Anatomy; in the U.K. Hazlewood was seen in soap opera Crossroads and the independent movie Dog Eat Dog. The role of Gupta was played by Parvesh Cheena, who has appeared in various U.S. TV shows and movies.

The show was based on a film directed by John Jeffcoat and starring Josh Hamilton as the American manager struggling to find his way in Indian culture. Outsourced received mixed reviews upon its season premier on NBC, and was not renewed for a second season. The cast, crew and fans of the show attempted to form an online group to pressure NBC to commission a second season, which resulted in the show being officially cancelled.

A British show with a similar plotline was filmed in 2007; called Mumbai Calling, the show starred Sanjeev Bhaskar as a British Indian sent to Mumbai to manage a call center. The British show was also only produced for a single season of seven episodes in 2007; British network ITV failed to show Mumbai Calling until 2009, although it was shown in India and Australia immediately after the show was completed.
