In season 3 episode 2 of Parks & Recreation, titled "Flu Season," the people of Pawnee are hit hard by a sudden and severe flu outbreak. As the virus spreads throughout the town, the Parks Department is tasked with handling the situation and keeping the public safe.

Leslie Knope (played by Amy Poehler) is determined to keep the Parks Department functioning despite the overwhelming number of sick employees. She sets up a makeshift sick bay in the office and goes to great lengths to keep herself from getting sick as well. Meanwhile, Ben Wyatt (played by Adam Scott) struggles with the pressure of his new job as city manager and fears that he will be blamed for the outbreak.

The episode follows the various members of the Parks Department as they deal with the flu epidemic in different ways. Ron Swanson (played by Nick Offerman) retreats to his cabin in the woods, while Tom Haverford (played by Aziz Ansari) sees an opportunity to make some extra money by selling hand sanitizer.

As the situation worsens, Leslie becomes increasingly desperate to find a solution. She enlists the help of Ann Perkins (played by Rashida Jones), a nurse who is also her best friend, to come up with a plan to quarantine the sick and stop the virus from spreading any further.

Throughout the episode, there are also several subplots involving the various relationships of the Parks Department employees. Andy Dwyer (played by Chris Pratt) attempts to woo April Ludgate (played by Aubrey Plaza) with his nursing skills, while Chris Traeger (played by Rob Lowe) becomes more convinced than ever that he needs to stay healthy and fit.
