Ep 1. Episode 1

In the first episode of Playful Kiss, we are introduced to our protagonist, Oh Ha Ni, a clumsy and optimistic high school student who has a crush on the most popular guy in school, Baek Seung Jo. Ha Ni writes a love letter to Seung Jo but it gets laughed at by him and his friends, humiliating her in front of the entire school.

Ha Ni's house gets destroyed in an earthquake and her father, who is a carpenter, ends up building a new house for them on the land of his childhood friend, who happens to be Seung Jo's father. Ha Ni's family moves in with Seung Jo's family and they become neighbors. Ha Ni is in awe of Seung Jo's intelligence and athleticism, and his cold and aloof personality intrigues her even more.

Ha Ni's school life becomes increasingly difficult as she is bullied by the other students due to her embarrassing love confession to Seung Jo. Seung Jo also shows no interest in her and even goes as far as to call her "an ant" due to her clumsy behavior.

Ha Ni is determined to win Seung Jo's heart and seeks the help of her friend, who suggests that she should tutor him in exchange for him teaching her martial arts. Ha Ni agrees and begins to spend time with Seung Jo, hoping to get closer to him.

Towards the end of the episode, Ha Ni's house catches fire and Seung Jo saves her. She thanks him and confesses her feelings to him, but he coldly rejects her and tells her that he is not interested in her.

Playful Kiss is a charming and heartwarming romantic comedy that follows the journey of a girl who falls in love with a boy who initially has no interest in her. The first episode introduces us to the main characters and sets up the premise for the rest of the series. The chemistry between the two leads is palpable and the humor is well executed, making it an enjoyable watch for fans of the genre.
