Ep 1. Take Two

In the season 4 premiere of Private Practice, titled "Take Two," the doctors at Oceanside Wellness deal with the aftermath of a shooting that took place during last season's finale. Although everyone survived, the incident has left the staff traumatized and struggling to move forward.

Addison (Kate Walsh) is still recovering from the bullet wound she sustained, and is also dealing with the emotional fallout of the incident. Meanwhile, Sam (Taye Diggs) is struggling with his own guilt, as he was the one who accidentally shot Derek (Brian Benben) in the chaos.

The episode also introduces a new character, Dr. Jake Reilly (Benjamin Bratt), a successful fertility specialist who comes to Oceanside Wellness looking for a job. His arrival causes tension between Addison and Sam, as both are interested in hiring him but have differing opinions on the direction the practice should take.

Throughout the episode, the theme of second chances is explored as the doctors try to make sense of what happened and figure out how to move forward. Violet (Amy Brenneman) is still grappling with the loss of her baby and deciding whether or not to have another child, while Cooper (Paul Adelstein) and Charlotte (KaDee Strickland) attempt to repair their strained marriage.

Overall, "Take Two" sets the stage for what promises to be a season filled with drama, heartache, and eventual healing.
