Raines is a crime drama series that aired on NBC for one season in 2007. Starring Jeff Goldblum as the titular character, the show follows the life of police detective Michael Raines, who is a bit unconventional, to say the least. Raines is haunted by the voices of murder victims, which he hears inside his head. These voices help him solve cases that would otherwise stump the LAPD. Raines is brilliant at his job, but his coworkers often find his methods strange and off-putting.

One of Raines' closest colleagues is police captain Daniel Lewis, played by Matt Craven. Lewis is Raines' friend and confidante, but he often has to rein in Raines' unorthodox ways of getting things done. Also on Raines' team is detective Michelle Lance, played by Nicole Sullivan. Michelle is tough-as-nails and doesn't put up with any nonsense, but she also has a soft spot for Raines and his unique talents.

Each episode of Raines is a self-contained crime mystery that Raines and his team must solve. Raines is always accompanied by the voices of the victims, who help him piece together the clues and ultimately track down the killer. Raines' conversations with the victims are often funny and lighthearted, despite the serious nature of the crimes they are trying to solve.

Raines is a quirky and interesting character, and Jeff Goldblum brings him to life in a way that only he could. Goldblum's performance is nuanced and charming, and he imbues Raines with a sense of humor that makes him very likable. The rest of the cast is also excellent, and they all have great chemistry together.

The show's writing is smart and engaging, and each episode has a different twist that keeps the audience guessing until the end. The crimes that Raines solves are often intricate and complex, and it's always satisfying to see him and his team piece everything together.

One of the unique things about Raines is the way it portrays Raines' mental state. The voices inside his head are a manifestation of his own psyche, and they allow him to see things that others can't. This mental illness is never portrayed as a villain, but rather as a tool that Raines can use for good. Raines' interactions with the voices are always interesting, and the show does an excellent job of handling a somewhat taboo topic with sensitivity and care.

Overall, Raines is a highly entertaining crime drama that is well worth watching. Jeff Goldblum is excellent in the lead role, and the rest of the cast is equally compelling. The show's writing is clever and engaging, and it's always satisfying to see Raines outsmart the bad guys using his unique talents. While Raines was unfortunately canceled after only one season, it remains a highly enjoyable and worthwhile show that is definitely worth checking out.

Raines is a series that is currently running and has 1 seasons (7 episodes). The series first aired on March 15, 2007.
