Ramsay's Best Restaurant is a BBC America cooking show that stars chef Gordon Ramsay. The premise of this show has viewers send in the names of their best local restaurants. Gordon tallies all of the votes for the restaurants and then goes to visit the 16 quarter finalists personally.

Various types of restaurants are chosen by Gordon to participate. These include the following: Italian, Indian, Chinese, Thai, British, American, North African, French and Spanish. The quarter finalists have to complete three tests in order to move on in the contest. Restaurants of the same genre compete against each other so that it is a level playing field.

The first test is to cook for 30 diners and have their meals out to them in less than two hours. The second test involves having a mystery diner get served at the restaurant. The restaurant has no idea who the person is and they rate the meal and the service that they received.

The third and final test involves Gordon choosing a main ingredient and each restaurant cooks a meal for 20 people using that ingredient. The restaurants both are given ratings and then based on their overall performance in all three tests they determine a winner.

Once the competition is down to eight semi-finalists, another mystery diner is sent into each restaurant and evaluates the taste of the food and the customer service. Based on each restaurant's score, the field is narrowed down to the final four.

At this time, Simon Davis, chef Angela Hartnett and chef Ramsay go to each restaurant unannounced and sit down and have a meal and discuss the taste of the meal and how well the servers did. Then, the restaurants are given 2,000 pounds to create pop up restaurants and feed the masses.

Each pop up restaurant is evaluated and then the group is reduced from four to two. The final task is for the two finalists to create a meal at one of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants for celebrities and other distinguished guests so that a winner can be chosen.
