In Reign season 3 episode 11, titled "Succession," tensions rise as Mary and Francis continue to struggle with their dysfunctional marriage, with Francis trying to establish himself as the undisputed King of France and Mary attempting to regain some control in her life.
As both monarchs try to assert their authority, both personally and politically, they find themselves coming up against various adversaries. Catherine de' Medici is as cunning and manipulative as ever, and her scheming threatens to undermine everything Francis is trying to achieve. Meanwhile, Mary is dealing with her own set of troubles, including a potentially fatal illness and an increasing sense of isolation from her husband.
Amidst all of this drama and intrigue, there are also some notable appearances by recurring characters. Leith, for instance, has an important role to play in Francis's plans, while Narcisse looks poised to take advantage of any weakness he can find in the royal family.
Ultimately, however, it is the relationship between Mary and Francis that takes center stage, as they struggle to navigate their complex feelings for each other amid the pressures of ruling a kingdom. With so much at stake, it remains to be seen whether they can keep their marriage together - or whether the forces of politics, ambition, and fate will tear them apart.
