In the 6th episode of season 13 of Restaurant: Impossible, entitled "Ambush: Out of Control," host and chef Robert Irvine surprises a struggling restaurant owner with an impromptu visit to save their business. The episode begins with Robert receiving a letter from a mom who is desperately trying to save her son's restaurant, Charley's. She explains that her son, Charley, has invested his life savings into the business, but it's on the verge of closing due to poor management and lack of experience.
Robert doesn't waste any time and decides to ambush Charley in the middle of a lunch rush to assess the situation for himself. Charley is clearly shocked and overwhelmed as Robert takes control of the kitchen and introduces himself to the staff. It becomes clear that the staff has no proper training and the kitchen is disorganized and chaotic.
Robert observes that the menu is too large, and the kitchen is struggling to keep up with the demand. The decor is dated and lacks any cohesive theme or style. Robert also discovers that the owner's wife is in charge of the finances, but she's unaware of how much money is being spent on expenses like food and liquor.
Robert assigns tasks to the staff to streamline the kitchen and organizes a staff meeting to address the issues. He also brings in a designer to help revamp the interior of the restaurant and create a new brand identity. As always, Robert works tirelessly to help the struggling restaurant owner and staff to turn things around.
Throughout the episode, tensions rise as the staff is put to the test and learns to work together more efficiently. The final day arrives, and Charley's restaurant is revealed with a completely redesigned interior and a new, streamlined menu. The staff is proud of their new look and inspired to work harder to keep the business running smoothly.
In the end, Robert leaves Charley's with all the tools and resources they need to succeed, and Charley is grateful for the opportunity to make his dream a reality. The success of the restaurant is now up to Charley and his newly-trained staff to maintain and continue to thrive in the competitive restaurant industry.
