Bridget's past comes back to haunt her in episode 6 of Ringer's first season, titled "The Poor Kids Do It Everyday."
The episode opens with Bridget attempting to get back to her normal routine after the heated altercation with Gemma in the previous episode. However, her attempts at living an ordinary life are short-lived when she receives a message from Charlie, her ex-boyfriend. The message brings Bridget's memories of her time with Charlie flooding back — a time when she and Charlie lived on the streets and did what they had to do to survive.
As Bridget spends more time remembering her past, she realizes that Charlie is in trouble and decides to reach out. Bridget then meets with Charlie at the skateboard park, where he tells her that he needs her help. Charlie's girlfriend, Juliette, has been kidnapped, and he needs Bridget to pose as Juliette so they can pay the ransom and get her back.
Bridget reluctantly agrees to help, and starts making arrangements to pose as Juliette. However, things take a turn for the worse when she realizes that she'll have to confront her old friend, Malcolm, to make the exchange. The two had a falling out after Bridget discovered that Malcolm had been using drugs, and she's hesitant to face him again after all these years.
Despite her reservations, Bridget goes through with the plan, and meets up with Malcolm at a diner. The tension between the two is palpable, and their conversation is filled with awkward silences. The tension peaks when Malcolm asks Bridget if she's still sober, to which she responds with a curt "yes."
As the plan goes awry, Bridget finds herself getting in deeper and deeper. When the kidnapper refuses to hand over Juliette, things come to a boiling point. Bridget is forced to make a split decision on what to do next.
