Round The Twist is a beloved Australian children's television series that aired from 1989 to 2001 on ABC1. The show is a fantasy comedy that follows the adventures of the Twist family, who move into a lighthouse in the fictional coastal town of Port Niranda. The family consists of widowed father Tony Twist (Richard Moir) and his three children, Linda (Tamsin West), Pete (Sam Vandenberg), and Bronson (Rodney McLennan).

The series begins with the Twist family moving into the lighthouse and discovering that it is possessed by a mischievous spirit. This spirit causes all sorts of strange and supernatural things to happen around the lighthouse and town. The show is known for its bizarre storylines, which often involve supernatural creatures, ghostly apparitions, and magical powers.

As the series progresses, the Twist family becomes entangled in a series of bizarre adventures involving everything from mermaids to giant babies. Along the way, they meet a variety of colorful characters, including Mr. Gribble (Frankie J. Holden), the local real estate agent with a penchant for underhanded deals, and eccentric inventor Harold Gribble (Bud Tingwell).

One of the most memorable aspects of Round The Twist is its theme song, which was written and performed by the show's creator and producer, Andrew Daddo. The infectious theme, which includes lines like "Have you ever, ever felt like this? When strange things happen, are you going round the twist?" has become a beloved part of Australian pop culture.

The show's cast is also a major part of its appeal. Richard Moir, who plays Tony Twist, is a veteran Australian actor who has appeared in everything from films to stage productions. Andrew S. Gilbert, who plays the bumbling police officer, is a prolific Australian character actor who has appeared in numerous television shows and films. Bud Tingwell, who plays Harold Gribble, was a beloved Australian actor who appeared in over 100 films and television shows before his death in 2009.

The Twist children are also played by talented young actors. Tamsin West, who plays the eldest daughter Linda, went on to have a successful career as a television presenter and actor. Sam Vandenberg, who plays Pete, continued to act in television and films, with his most recent role being in the Australian film The Sapphires. Rodney McLennan, who plays the youngest Twist child Bronson, went on to work behind the scenes in the film industry.

Round The Twist was a groundbreaking show for Australian children's television, breaking away from the traditional formula of educational programs to offer a more whimsical and imaginative viewing experience. The show's blend of comedy and fantasy helped it become a beloved cultural touchstone for a generation of Australians.

Despite its popularity, the show has not been widely available on DVD or streaming platforms, making it difficult for new audiences to experience the magic of Round The Twist. However, the series has continued to live on in the hearts of its fans, who continue to reminisce about the show's wild storylines and unforgettable theme song.

Round The Twist is a series that is currently running and has 4 seasons (52 episodes). The series first aired on August 26, 1990.
