In Rugrats season 4 episode 27, titled "A Rugrats Chanukah," the babies learn about the Jewish holiday of Chanukah through the eyes of their friend, Tommy's Jewish great-grandfather, Boris. Boris tells the children the story of how a group of Jewish rebels, known as the Maccabees, fought to reclaim the Holy Temple in Jerusalem from the Greeks and how they were able to keep a menorah burning for eight days with only enough oil for one.

As Boris tells the story, the babies imagine themselves as the Maccabees and the Greeks, fighting against one another with a variety of toys and household objects. Meanwhile, Tommy's parents, Stu and Didi, struggle to prepare for a Chanukah party that Boris is meant to attend. They try, and fail, to make traditional latkes (potato pancakes) and end up ordering pizza instead.

When Boris finally arrives, the babies are fascinated by his menorah and the tradition of lighting a new candle each night. Boris even shares a special dreidel game with the babies, which they thoroughly enjoy. However, when the power goes out due to a snowstorm, Boris worries that they won't be able to light the menorah properly. The babies come to the rescue with their toy flashlight, and Stu and Didi finish making the latkes just in time for a wonderful and meaningful celebration.

The episode is a heartwarming introduction to the Jewish holiday and promotes cultural diversity and understanding. While it may not have the high-stakes adventure or physical humor of some of the other Rugrats episodes, its message of inclusion and respect for different beliefs is still as relevant today as it was when the episode first aired in 1996. Overall, "A Rugrats Chanukah" is a sweet and educational addition to the Rugrats canon.
