Ep 4. Defense

Dr. Alex Reid faces the challenges of balancing her professional and personal life in Saving Hope season 2 episode 4 titled “Defense.” As the Chief Surgical Resident at Hope Zion Hospital, Alex is constantly juggling her career goals with her personal relationships, which become particularly complicated in this episode.

The episode kicks off with Alex attempting to deal with the fallout from her former fiancé's (Dr. Joel Goran) departure. While she is trying to move on and focus on her work, she finds it challenging when he keeps popping up on her computer screen, as he is the face of a new telemedicine program the hospital has launched. Joel is miles away in San Francisco, yet his presence in her life remains frustratingly present.

Meanwhile, a threat to the hospital’s safety forces the staff to come up with a defense plan. The hospital board believes that they are vulnerable to terrorist attacks and hires a high-profile security expert, Charlie, to conduct a safety assessment. However, as the staff begins to implement the recommended changes, Alex senses that something is off about Charlie and sets out to investigate him.

As the safety threat looms, the hospital staff struggles to maintain an everyday routine. Dr. Shahir Hamza, the head of neurosurgery, faces a difficult decision as he balances a patient's care with a top-notch career opportunity. Additionally, Dr. Maggie Lin, the ER resident, tries to hold down the fort during a busy night in the ER, while also navigating her partnership with Dr. Gavin Murphy.

As Alex's investigation into the security expert heats up, she uncovers some alarming information that puts the entire hospital at risk. She soon realizes that the threat to their safety is much closer to home than they initially thought, and she must act quickly to protect her colleagues and patients.
