Saving Hope is a medical drama series that aired on NBC from 2012 to 2017, starring Erica Durance as Dr. Alex Reid, a surgical resident at Hope Zion Hospital. The show revolves around the lives of doctors, nurses, and staff at the hospital, as they try to save the lives of their patients while dealing with their personal and professional conflicts.

The premise of the show is based on the supernatural element, which is introduced in the pilot episode when the chief of surgery, Dr. Charles Harris (Michael Shanks), falls into a coma after a car accident. Despite being in this state, he is able to see and hear everything that's happening around him, and he communicates with the living through his thoughts.

As the show progresses, we see Dr. Reid and her colleagues trying to help their patients as they deal with their own personal struggles. Dr. Reid is a talented surgeon who is dedicated to her work, but she's also haunted by her fiance's death, which led her to question her faith and beliefs. Her ex-boyfriend, Dr. Charlie Harris, is in a coma, and she's conflicted about how to move on with her life. Meanwhile, Dr. Joel Goran (Daniel Gillies), a top-notch orthopedic surgeon who is arrogant and reckless, struggles to find his place at the hospital while trying to win Dr. Reid's heart.

Other key characters in the show include Dr. Zach Miller (Benjamin Ayres), a general surgery resident who's new to the hospital and is trying to find his footing; Dr. Maggie Lin (Julia Taylor Ross), a gifted resident who's rising through the ranks and dealing with her own personal demons; and Nurse Kristine Amato (Huse Madhavji), who's always there to lend a listening ear to her colleagues.

Throughout the show's five seasons, we see the characters grow and evolve as they face various challenges, both inside and outside the hospital. The show tackles a wide range of medical issues, from cancer and organ transplants to rare diseases and mental health.

Saving Hope is also noteworthy for its nuanced portrayal of spirituality and the afterlife. Dr. Harris's ghostly presence is a regular feature of the show, and we see him interact with other ghosts who have passed on to the other side. The show explores questions of faith, mortality, and the human condition, while never losing sight of the heart and humor that defines it.

In addition to its strong cast and compelling storyline, Saving Hope is also notable for its striking visual style. The show's cinematography is stunning, with beautiful shots of the hospital and its surroundings. The show also uses dream sequences and flashbacks to great effect, adding a layer of depth to the characters' stories.

Overall, Saving Hope is a deeply affecting and thought-provoking show that is well worth watching for anyone who enjoys medical dramas or supernatural themes. Its powerful performances, innovative storytelling, and stunning visuals make it a standout in its genre, and a must-see for fans of the show.

Saving Hope is a series that is currently running and has 5 seasons (85 episodes). The series first aired on June 7, 2012.
