Ep 1. Where There's Smoke

In Sex and the City season 3 episode 1, entitled "Where There's Smoke," the focus is on relationships, both old and new. The episode kicks off with Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, finally finishing her book, which she's been working on for two years. As she races to the post office to mail off her manuscript, she bumps into Aidan Shaw, her on/off former boyfriend, played by John Corbett.

Aidan tells Carrie that he's in the process of renovating his bar, Scout, and asks her to come check it out. While she's there, she runs into her other ex-boyfriend, Mr. Big (Chris Noth), who is also a regular at the bar. Despite their tumultuous history, Carrie and Mr. Big end up sleeping together later that night.

Meanwhile, Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) is struggling with balancing motherhood and her career as a lawyer. After she accidentally burns her apartment down, Miranda decides to quit her job and instead become a stay-at-home mom to her son, Brady.

Charlotte York (Kristin Davis), on the other hand, is dealing with a new relationship. She's dating a man named Trey MacDougal (Kyle MacLachlan), whom she met at a gallery opening. Though they hit it off initially, Charlotte becomes increasingly frustrated with Trey's inability to consummate their relationship.

As for Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), she's trying to distance herself from her ex-boyfriend, Richard Wright (James Remar). Despite her best efforts, she can't resist sleeping with him once more.

Overall, "Where There's Smoke" sets up some interesting plot points for the rest of Sex and the City season 3. It highlights the ups and downs of romantic relationships and shows how even the most successful and confident women can struggle in love.
